Gaudí rebuilt Casa Batlló for a textile family between 1904 and 1906. The balconies look like masks, the columns like bones and the roof like the back of a dragon, which is why locals call it the house of bones.
You can see it from inside on an early-access visit before it opens to the public, or from the pavement on a walking tour of Passeig de Gràcia. Each card shows whether entry is included.
What to expect on a Casa Batlló experience
Inside, the tiles in the central light well shade from dark to pale blue so the light feels even from top to bottom, and the rooftop is covered in the dragon's tiled scales. From the street, a guide will point out the neighbouring houses by Domènech i Montaner and Puig i Cadafalch on the same block, the Mansana de la Discòrdia.
