At 828 metres, the Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world, and its decks are the highest viewpoints most visitors will ever stand on. On a clear day you see the whole city, from the old creek to Palm Jumeirah, with the desert on one side and the Gulf on the other.
Tickets come in several levels. At the Top on levels 124 and 125 is the classic visit. At the Top SKY on level 148 adds fast-track entry and a lounge with refreshments. The Lounge on levels 152 to 154 is the highest of all, with an outdoor terrace and high tea. You can also combine a visit with the Dubai Aquarium or the Sky Views Observatory, or eat at the At.mosphere restaurant on level 122.
Each card below shows which levels are included and what else comes with the ticket.
About Burj Khalifa
The Burj Khalifa opened in January 2010 at the centre of Downtown Dubai. The design comes from the American firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, and its Y-shaped plan is based on the hymenocallis, a desert flower. The tower holds several world records, including the highest occupied floor and the highest outdoor observation deck.
The tower stands next to the Dubai Mall and above the Dubai Fountain, whose shows run on the lake at its base in the evening. Inside are offices, private homes and the Armani Hotel, while the public decks are on levels 124, 125, 148 and 152 to 154.
What to expect on a Burj Khalifa experience
You enter through the Dubai Mall, on the Lower Ground level, and follow the 'At The Top' signs. After a security check, a short exhibition about the tower leads to one of the fastest lifts in the world, which climbs to level 124 in about a minute.
Levels 124 and 125 have floor-to-ceiling windows, telescopes and an open-air terrace. SKY and Lounge tickets continue to the higher levels with their own lifts and fewer people. Plan about one and a half hours for a standard visit and longer for the Lounge.
Large bags are not allowed upstairs, but you can leave them free of charge on the ground floor. Bring a valid ID.
Best time to visit
Late afternoon is the most popular time, because you see the city by day, at sunset and after dark in one visit. These slots sell out first and often cost more, so book them early.
Early morning is the quietest time and often gives the clearest air. In summer, haze and humidity can soften the view in the middle of the day.
Getting around
Take the Dubai Metro Red Line to Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station. A covered walkway links the station to the mall, and the walk takes about 10 to 15 minutes.
Taxis and ride-hailing cars can drop you at the Dubai Mall entrances. The At.mosphere restaurant has its own entrance through the Corporate Suites gate, with free valet parking.
