Best time to visit
Tenerife is a year-round island, with mild weather on the coast in every season. In winter, snow can cover the summit of Teide and the nights in the national park are cold. Stargazing is best on clear nights near the new moon. The north is at its greenest from autumn to spring.
In every month, bring warm layers for Teide. Above 2,000 metres the temperature drops fast after sunset.
Getting around
Most visitors stay in the south, around Costa Adeje, Los Cristianos and Playa de las Américas, and private tours usually start there. The roads to Masca and Teide are narrow and full of hairpin bends, and they are tiring to drive after dark. This is one of the best reasons to travel with a driver-guide.
