Free Tour of Barceloneta and the Parc de la Ciutadella

We’ll meet at the designated time in front of Barcelona’s Arc de Triomf and set off on a tour that will take us on a journey through the history of the Catalan capital. Let our free tour begin!

In 1888, the Barcelona World’s Fair was held—an event that marked a turning point for the Catalan capital. In fact, the Arc de Triomf was built specifically as the main entrance to the fair! Once there, we’ll enter the Citadel gardens, where we’ll be greeted by greenhouses filled with exotic and tropical plants.

Next, we’ll admire the Monumental Waterfall, a monument designed by architect Josep Fontserè, and stop at the Parliament of Catalonia—the perfect place to learn about Barcelona’s political, military, and historical significance.

We’ll then leave the park behind to explore one of the city’s oldest railway stations still in operation, França Station. Afterward, we’ll explore the Barceloneta neighborhood, where the city meets the Mediterranean Sea. We’ll discuss the importance of maritime activity to the city while admiring the old fishermen’s homes in the area.

We’ll also see how this area, once an industrial zone, has transformed over time into one of Barcelona’s most popular tourist destinations, especially after the 1992 Olympic Games.

Finally, after a total of two hours on this free tour, we’ll say our goodbyes in front of the stunning view of Barceloneta Beach.
