Question 1

What are the best day trips from Bilbao?

Accepted Answer

San Juan de Gaztelugatxe with Bermeo and Gernika is the classic Basque coast run, while the Rioja wine region pairs vineyard tastings with the medieval walled village of Laguardia. There are also full-day tours to San Sebastian and the French Basque coast, and to Pamplona and Vitoria-Gasteiz. Compare the available tours above and book directly.

Question 2

Can I visit San Juan de Gaztelugatxe from Bilbao in a day?

Accepted Answer

Yes — it is about an hour from the city, and our guided day trip pairs it with the fishing port of Bermeo and the town of Gernika, returning to Bilbao the same day. The hermitage is reached by a long stone stairway along the causeway, so comfortable shoes and a reasonable level of fitness help.

Question 3

Can I do a Rioja wine tour from Bilbao?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our Rioja day trips leave Bilbao in the morning and take in vineyard landscapes, guided visits and tastings at traditional wineries, and the medieval village of Laguardia, with some routes also stopping in Vitoria-Gasteiz. Each listing shows the wineries visited and what the tastings include.

Question 4

How much do Bilbao tours cost?

Accepted Answer

The current price for each Bilbao tour is shown on its individual listing above, along with exactly what is included.

Question 5

How long do the tours last?

Accepted Answer

The Bilbao experiences listed here are full-day guided excursions that run for most of the day and return to the city the same evening. Each listing shows its exact duration and departure time.

Question 6

Which languages are the tours in?

Accepted Answer

Tour languages vary by guide — the languages available for each tour are listed on that tour's page.

Question 7

Do I need to book in advance?

Accepted Answer

Booking ahead is recommended, especially in summer and during Aste Nagusia in August. You can check availability and reserve your place directly on each tour listing.
