Tenerife has its own pyramids. The six stepped pyramids of Güímar are about 12 metres tall and are made of volcanic stone. Experts still do not agree why people built them. Some think farmers piled up stones from their fields. Others link them to people who worshipped the sun and the moon.
The pyramids stand in an open-air ethnographic park. Walk the outdoor trails, visit the Chacona House Museum and the auditorium, and see the sustainable garden and the exhibition "An Ocean... of Plastic".
