Once a month, bars, restaurants and wine shops across San Telmo come together for San Telmo Se Copa, a celebration of Argentine wine and the neighborhood’s local gastronomic community.
This English-language free tour offers a guided journey through the event, combining four selected wine venues with the stories, characters and hidden corners of one of Buenos Aires’ most distinctive neighborhoods.
We begin at Grapín, where San Telmo Se Copa was created. Here, you will collect the event’s official reusable glass and enjoy a complimentary welcome wine while your local guide introduces the experience.
Our first stop is Café Rivas, a historic bar notable brought back to life by four friends. Along the way, we discover the former edge of the early city and hear stories about San Telmo’s changing relationship with the Río de la Plata. At Café Rivas, you can purchase your first optional wine refill while experiencing its contemporary reinterpretation of porteño food, music and café culture.
We then walk through the historic San Telmo Market, exploring stories about immigration, neighborhood commerce, antique dealers and the market’s transformation into one of the city’s liveliest gastronomic spaces.
Our next stop is 1853 The Wine Experience, a local wine shop and tasting space where you can discover a different side of Argentine wine and purchase another optional refill.
The last part of the route takes us through Pasaje San Lorenzo and Plaza Dorrego, with stories about conventillos, tango, candombe, legends, artists and the bohemian reinvention of San Telmo.
We finish at Lilith Vino, an independent cultural bar specializing in natural and low-intervention wines from small producers and different regions of Argentina. Here, you can purchase a final refill, return the official glass and stay for another drink or something to eat.
This is not a formal tasting class or a traditional history lecture. It is a relaxed, social and story-driven walk through San Telmo, with wine connecting the neighborhood, its businesses and its people.
The tour is conducted entirely in English and is available only to guests aged 18 or older.
This is a free tour: there is no fixed price for the guided experience. At the end, each guest chooses how much to contribute to the guide. Only the welcome wine at Grapín is included. Additional wine and food are optional and paid directly to each venue.
