Antoni Gaudí's Sagrada Família is Barcelona's defining landmark — a still-unfinished basilica that captures the full ambition of Catalan modernism.
Our guided experiences pair the Sagrada Família with the modernist architecture and the medieval Gothic Quarter around it, giving you the complete sweep of the city's artistic story alongside an expert local guide.
About Sagrada Família Tours in Barcelona
Barcelona is the home of Catalan modernism, and no name looms larger than Antoni Gaudí. His Sagrada Família, begun in 1882 and still under construction, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the most visited monument in Spain.
The tours in this collection connect the basilica with Gaudí's wider modernist city and the historic old town, so you understand how Barcelona's landmarks — ancient, medieval and modern — fit together.
What to expect on a Sagrada Família Tours in Barcelona experience
On a Sagrada Família tour you can expect to explore Gaudí's masterpiece and the surrounding modernist city with a guide who explains the symbolism, engineering and history behind the basilica.
Depending on the experience, you may:
- Admire the Nativity and Passion façades and Gaudí's nature-inspired design
- Learn how the basilica has been built over more than 140 years
- Combine the Sagrada Família with the Gothic Quarter and old town
- Discover other Catalan Modernism landmarks nearby
Ticket inclusion and interior access vary by tour, so check each tour card for exactly what's covered.
Best time to visit
The Sagrada Família can be visited all year round. Spring and autumn bring the most comfortable weather for combining the basilica with a walking tour of the city, while summer is the busiest and warmest season.
Early morning and late afternoon are ideal — the light through Gaudí's stained-glass windows is at its most spectacular and the area is quieter than at midday. Booking ahead is strongly recommended, as timed entry to the basilica sells out quickly.
Getting around
The Sagrada Família sits in the Eixample district, a short distance from the old town, and is easy to reach by metro — the Sagrada Família stop (L2 and L5) is right beside the basilica.
From there, the Gothic Quarter and other modernist landmarks are a pleasant walk or a few metro stops away, so many tours combine the basilica with the historic centre on foot and by public transport.
