The National Palace of Sintra stands in the centre of the old town, easy to spot by its two huge white chimneys. Portuguese kings and queens lived here for centuries, and it is one of the best preserved royal palaces of medieval Portugal.
Inside, you see the Coats of Arms Room with its painted dome, rooms decorated with birds and swans, and the most important collection of Mudéjar tiles in the world. The palace is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sintra.
Your ticket gives entry to the palace. Children under 6 enter free, but you must select a ticket for them. Reduced tickets for ages 6 to 18 and over-65s are available on site.
