The Royal Palace of La Granja de San Ildefonso was the summer residence of King Philip V, built in the 18th century in the hills near Segovia. Its gardens, with their statues and fountains, are among the finest in Spain.
An official guide speaking Spanish leads you through the frescoed halls, the royal rooms and the galleries, then through the formal gardens, with stories of the court. The tour lasts about 2 hours, and palace entry is included.
