Edinburgh Castle has stood on Castle Rock, an extinct volcano, for centuries. It dominates the city skyline.
Meet your guide on the Royal Mile, opposite St Giles' Cathedral, for a short introduction to the Old Town. Then walk up to the castle, where your guide shows you the ramparts, the history of the fortress and its links to Mary, Queen of Scots. The tour lasts about 1.5 hours, in English.
