The Kecak dance was created in the 1930s by the Balinese artist Wayan Limbak and the German painter Walter Spies. It comes from the Sanghyang, a sacred ritual danced in Hindu temples.
At Melasti Beach in the south of Bali, a large group of performers chant in rhythm and act out a Balinese story while the sun sets over the ocean. The show lasts about 1 hour.
