Garfagnana: Grotta del Vento with a guided tour

Discover the Grotta del Vento, one of the most fascinating karst formations in the Apuan Alps, in the heart of Garfagnana. Accompanied by a guide, you’ll enter an underground world shaped by water over thousands of years, featuring stalactites, stalagmites, limestone flows, small lakes, streams, canyons, and large pits.

After checking in at the ticket office, you’ll reach the entrance and follow a path equipped with non-slip flooring, steps, and safety railings. Inside, the temperature remains around 10.7 °C year-round.

Available itineraries:

- Short route: about 1 hour, 800 meters, 366 steps, including the Laghetto dei Cristalli

- Standard route: about 2 hours, 1,500 meters, about 850 steps, featuring the Baratro dei Giganti, the Sala delle Voci, and an underground stream

- Full route: approximately 3 hours, 2,200 meters, approximately 1,195 steps, leading to the 90-meter vertical shaft and the Diramazione delle Meraviglie

The second and third routes require good mobility and are not recommended for those who suffer from vertigo.

Bring a sweatshirt or light jacket and closed-toe shoes with good traction. There may be more dripping after rain. Photos and videos are allowed only where indicated by the guide. Pets and strollers are not permitted. If the guide does not speak your language, multilingual audio guides may be available.
