Napoleon ordered the Arc de Triomphe in 1806 to honour his armies, and it stands at the centre of Place Charles de Gaulle, where twelve avenues meet. Under the arch lies the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, with its eternal flame.
Your ticket gives entry to the monument and its rooftop terrace. From the top, look down the Champs-Élysées to the Louvre, across to the Eiffel Tower and out to La Défense.
