The Royal Site of San Lorenzo de El Escorial lies in the hills about one hour from Madrid. King Philip II built it in the 16th century as a monastery, a palace and a royal burial place. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the most important Renaissance building in Spain.
Your ticket gives you entry to the Royal Site and a digital guide (PDF) to the royal sites in and around Madrid. You can also add a digital audio guide when you book. The Casita del Príncipe is not included. Plan about two hours for the visit.
Enter at the north façade and go straight to the security check. You also need the PDF ticket that comes by email.

• Free entry Wed & Sun, 15:00-18:00, for EU citizens, residents, work permit holders & Latin American citizens (with valid ID). Unguided tour only. Request in ticket office.
• Recommended visit duration: 2 hours
• Show your smartphone ticket at the entrance located at the north facade, and go directly to the security control
• Please note that you will also need to show the PDF ticket that you will receive by email
