For more than 20 years, Nicolae and Elena Ceaușescu lived in this villa in the Primăverii district of Bucharest, while most Romanians went cold and hungry under their rule. When revolutionaries entered the house after the 1989 revolution, they were shocked by its luxury.
A guide leads you through the private rooms, the cinema, the indoor pool with its mosaics and the gardens, and tells the story of the family and the end of the regime. Much was taken by protesters, but what remains shows a life far from that of ordinary people. The tour lasts about 45 minutes.
