Step inside the Historical Museum of the 1943 Landing in Sicily, located in the Le Ciminiere complex in Catania, and retrace one of the decisive events of World War II: Operation Husky, which began with the landing of Allied troops on July 10, 1943.
The tour begins with a reconstruction of a Sicilian town square from the 1940s, featuring period shops and buildings. Continue on to an air-raid shelter and experience, through a bombing simulation, the conditions endured by the civilian population.
In the galleries dedicated to the Sicilian campaign, you’ll find photographs, documents, newspapers, maps, uniforms, weapons, and original artifacts, along with reconstructions of a bunker, a field hospital, and other scenes of life on the front lines. The tour includes a photographic section dedicated to Phil Stern and concludes with a memorial to the fallen.
